却是 (què shì) is a conjunction that is used to express a contrast or contradiction in a sentence. It can be translated as "but be, yet be" in English.
Example 1: 他看起来很强壮,身体却是很虚弱。(Tā kàn qǐ lái hěn qiángzhuàng, shēntǐ què shì hěn xūruò.) He looks very strong, but in fact, he is physically weak.
Example 2: 这个问题却是很难回答。(Zhè gè wèntí què shì hěn nán huídá.) This question, however, is difficult to answer.
Example 3: 他的外表很冷漠,内心却是很温暖。(Tā de wàibiǎo hěn lěngmò, nèixīn què shì hěn wēnnuǎn.) He appears cold on the outside, but his heart is warm.
