"没事" is used in conversation to indicate that something is not a problem or that it is not necessary to apologize. For example, if someone apologizes for being late, the response could be "没事" ("méi shì"), meaning "it's nothing; don't worry about it". Similarly, if someone expresses thanks for something, the response could be "没事" ("méi shì"), meaning "it's nothing; don't mention it". It can also be used to indicate that someone has no responsibility for something, for example, "你没事,这是我的错" ("nǐ méi shì, zhè shì wǒ de cuò") meaning "it's not your fault; it's my mistake".
