施加 (shījiā) means to exert, bring to bear on, or impose in English. It is often used to describe the act of applying force, pressure, or influence on someone or something.
For example:
- 我们必须施加更多的压力,才能达到目标。(Wǒmen bìxū shījiā gèng duō de yālì, cáinéng dádào mùbiāo.) - We need to exert more pressure in order to achieve our goal.
- 政府正在施加新的税收政策。(Zhèngfǔ zhèngzài shījiā xīn de shuìshōu zhèngcè.) - The government is imposing new tax policies.
- 他们试图施加影响力,让我们改变主意。(Tāmen shìtú shījiā yǐngxiǎnglì, ràng wǒmen gǎibiàn zhǔyì.) - They are trying to exert influence on us to change our minds.
