好看 vs 美:

When 好看 and 美 are both adjectives, what are their differences?
1. 好看 is used to modify something that's visible to one's eyes, e.g. person's appearance, clothes, flowers, etc. It can means "nice", describing something that one can read or watch, e.g. books, movies, stage shows, performances, etc.
- 这本书挺好看的。 This book is quite a good read.

2. 美, when it means "beautiful", it can be used to modify both nouns that are visible to one's eyes, and abstract nouns such as someone's soul, mind, dream, etc.
- 心灵美 beauty of mind
- 美梦 sweet dream, beautiful dream
