These three words, 要不, 不然 and 否则 can all be used as a conjunction, meaning "otherwise, or else". They are not that different and are interchangeable.
1. 要不 is highly colloquial, while 不然 and 否则 are both used in oral and written Chinese, with 否则 being more formal.
2. 不然 and 否则 can be used in this strucutre "...的话". We can say 不然的话, 否则的话. 要不 is not used in this structure.
