"站" is used to indicate that someone or something is standing or stopping. For example, 他站在门口 (tā zhàn zài ménkǒu) means "He is standing at the door". It can also be used to indicate that someone or something is halting or stopping, as in 他们站住了 (tāmen zhàn zhù le) which means "They stopped".
