In spoken Chinese, 看样子 (kàn yàng zi) is commonly used to express the idea of "it seems that". It is used to express a tentative conclusion based on the evidence that is available. For example, one might say 看样子他今天不会来了 (kàn yàng zi tā jīntiān bù huì lái le) to express the idea that "it seems he won't come today".
