美丽 vs 漂亮:
1. 漂亮 can be used in a situation where a task/assignment is completed in a remarkable or brilliant way, while 美丽 can not be used in this way:
E.g.1: 干得漂亮! [phr] Well done!

2. 美丽 can be about what you can see on the outside, and it can also be referring to a more abstract inner beauty. 漂亮 is usually about the outside. In this example below, you cannot use 漂亮:
E.g.2: 美丽的灵魂 beautiful soul

3. 美丽 is more formal and it appears in written Chinese; 漂亮 is informal. Compare examples 3 and 4 below. Example 3 is written Chinese while 4 is spoken Chinese.
E.g. 3 雨后含苞待放的牡丹更加美丽。 [phr] After the rain the peony with buds ready to burst looks beautiful.
