Does the color of the characters have any significance when reviewing the cards? After completing a flashcard, I go back to review it and the characters are red, green, blue, orange, or white.  Is there any significance to this?

The color of the character depends on the tone which is used to pronounce it.

The colouring scheme used is a "de facto" standard which is based on Nathan Dummitt, Chinese Through Tone & Color (2008) and we have followed that "standard" strictly.

- First tone is red
- Second tone yellow
-
Third tone green
-
Fourth tone blue
- Neutral tone is black (or white)
