I have the Chinese writer ap on my android phone (Samsung Note GT-N7000) I really like it, but it's stopped working. I was going to play with it a little bit more and then upgrade to the paid subscription. So today I loaded 15 new words into a new pack and synced the phone. The new pack shows up on my phone, but only gives me 5 words out of 15. I'm guessing that's because I picked them from the dictionary, so maybe all the words are not in HSK1. BUT -- my old pack won't load at all. I picked all of those words out of HSK1, and it was working fine last week. I have selected both traditional and simplified. I am just beginning to learn the characters, so I like the trace setting in browse mode set at 30 seconds. Thanks for you help.

The following statements are valid for Android Writer (not for iOS)!
After pressing on the current pack name you will be directed to a page which shows available packs in 3 groups (\"HSK\", \"My packs\" and \"trainchinese\") You can change the group by tapping on the corresponding name of it. I assume that the first pack you mention was created on the phone, that means the pack would be in the \"My Packs\" section. The second pack was created using your trainchinese account and will be in the \"trainchinese\" section. So the question is if you did not find the first pack you created, or if you could not select it (tapping on the top right selection mark) or something else happened? In the case you created a pack using a trainchinese list, it certainly is very probable that that list contains characters which are not part of the \"HSK 1\" provided with the Writer app Concerning simplified/traditional, the pack may contain simplified and traditional characters, but when playing or browsing the app will only show the characters belonging to the selected type. So if you have selected \"simplified\" in the main menu, then only the simplified characters of the current pack will be played or available for browsing. |

So if I purchase the Chinese Writer app, will I be able to use the pack with the words I picked from the trainchinese list? Can I create a custom list for the Chinese Writer app?
ignatz говорит: It says that only characters I own are available. How do I "own" characters? The characters I want to use are part of the ten free that I get per week on the free trial in TrainChinese.

- With the writer you "own" characters belonging to the packs you purchased (and those characters provided for free). - If you did not pay for a subscription then only characters which you own can be played/used on the writer - If you have a paid subscription then all of the characters of your trainchinese lists can be used for free on the writer. - You can create as many custom "packs" with characters on or for the Writer as you like. |

Hi Klaus, Ok, I'm still a little confused. If I buy the ten list subscription with a limit of 1000 cards, can I pick any 1000 cards from the dictionary? Or am I limited to an elementary pack, such as HSK1 ? 1000 cards would be more than enough for now if I can choose from a much larger selection. I really do like the Chinese Writer app, but if I need to spend $60 US to have access to the whole dictionary, just so I can select the few hundred cards I need to start, it's much too expensive.
I can see that there is support now, so that's good! Thanks for your help.
ignatz говорит: I guess I can't figure out how to buy a pack for the ChineseWriter. On the Chinese writer site there is a list of packs for download, and they appear to be free. At least, I can click on them and they download, I haven't tried to open them. But I don't want to start with HSK1, I want to pick a few hundred specialized words from the dictionary. Thanks

With a subscription you can choose and add any of the more than 80,000 available cards to your lists (limitation may be the number of lists you purchased). During the duration of the subscription you can use all of the characters you got in your lists for packs in the writer. Comment to the packs on the website, this contain all HSK characters based on the new HSK system, but if you are using the free app, then only the subset of characters you "purchased" will be displayed. |
