In the iPhone 5 app sound only works in the card, but not in the dictionary entry. When I press the yellow "sound" button while in the dictionary mode something gets downloaded, but I hear no sound. Only when I add the word as a study card AND sync with the site I get audio.
I this is how it should work then the functionality of the dictionary is rather limited. Please comment.

The audio should play correctly also if you try to get it based on dictionary (or public lists) entries.
The only requirement to get the audio for dictionary entries is that the user has entered the account information into the settings of the app. Based on what you say it seems as if you have done that (?). The only other reason of a problem could be that the transmission over the internet fails (could happen with really bad internet connections, or if there is a firewall). Can you please let us know more details? You may also send us an email to cs@trainchinese.com if you have attachments or want to share private information. One additional note: What we are preparing to be included into the next update is a better information to the user on why an audio file did not load. That should help to identify the reason and allow for a solution. |

This seems like a bug. App version is the newest. Account information is entered in the app. (it\'s yet a free account though). Internet link is perfect (WiFi, high speed). Let\'s see what happens.
1. Start the app, tap on Словарь (Dictionary) 2. Search for hao. There comes the list of matching words. Tap on 好, drill into the dictionary entry. 3. Tap on the yellow sound sign (upper top). It goes \"Загрузка аудио\" (Downloading audio). No sound. Tap several times on the yellow sign. No sound. 4. Add the word to the list of flash cards. 5. Go to the flash card. Tap on yellow sign. No sound. 6. Go to the main menu. Press sync button (top right). Go inside the card OR dictionary entry. Sound appears! |

Hi, Craig here from the trainchinese team. We\'ve tested with the same version on iOS 6.12, also in Russian, also using a free account - and didn\'t manage to reproduce the issue. The only difference is that we\'re using an iPhone 4S, not an iPhone 5. Is it affecting all of the dictionary words, or just 好? Here\'s another thing to try: 1. Tap the Settings/Настройки tab 2. Scroll to the bottom and tap More.../Больше... 3. Tap Audio/Аудио This will delete all of the audio files cached in the phone. Now try using the audio function again.

After I deinstalled both trainchinese and skritter apps and then installed only trainchinese, sound now works. Was it a competition issue? :)
The problem affected all the dictionary, not only 好. Audio removal through Settings didn\'t help (I tried it several times even before I submitted this case). What confuses about the sound in your application is that its volume level is independent of phone\'s ringer level and there\'s no way to adjust it graphically in the app, only with phone buttons on the left edge of the phone and only during audio playback. I\'d add volume control to the Settings tab (do consider this a feature request). 谢谢 |

That\'s very odd - there\'s no relationship between trainchinese and Skritter so perhaps it was related to re-installing trainchinese. I\'ll keep my eye out for possible causes. The audio volume is independent from the ringer as you say - that should also be the case in other apps like games etc. We\'ll add a volume bar somewhere on the details screen or app settings, but in the meantime you might be able to avoid the issue by going into the iPhone settings and selecting \"Sounds\", then switch off \"Change with Buttons\".

I'm having tha exact same issue. I've been using the app for over 8 months, the problem started last week, I have iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3
If I search a word, the sound is downloaded but it doesn't sound hen you click on it, it's really frustrating. The sound for the cards added this week although it seems like it was downloaded and it seems like it is playing, doesn't sound at all. I tried synching the app but the problem was only fixed for a few cards.

I synced my flash cards in my iPad app and there was no problem there, I reinstalled iPhone app and after syncing all ten cards then the sound issue was fixed, but there is definitely a bug there! |
