It seems not. I let my subscription expire because I learn almost entirely on my desktop and, without stroke order, it's nearly useless for me.

It is a pitty that we can not provide you with stroke order animations on the desktop application. The desktop application does not (yet) the stroke order information.  We think it still will take about 2 months till we can include that function into the desktop application. In case you let the subscription expire, you still will be able to load the new updated desktop application (once it is available).

In the case you have an Android phone (?), then you could use the trainchinese Android application which includes the stroke orders. (same applies for the case you are using an iPhone phone).

stroke order is very important to me because I have a Chinese phone and, when writing texts, I have to get the stroke order right otherwise it doesn\'t recognize the characters.

Sounds good; my roommate has an iPhone and, since I do my chinese while he's asleep, I think I can borrow it then. Looking forward to the new desktop app, I will definitely repurchase when it comes out.
By the way, this is a really amazing site and I've found nothing better for learning Chinese; thanks for all your help!
