On behalf of one of our users I am addressing a question which may be useful for many other people learning Chinese (or visiting China):

In relation to the word 酒店 the user thought that it is referring to a wine (酒) shop(店). I know that this is not the case and that this word refers to a Hotel.  And I also know that there are other expressions for hotel like: 宾馆 and 饭店. But I am not sure about the difference between them and if there are other words referring to hotel in Chinese?

First, In Chinese "酒店" means "hotel". The "wine shop" is "酒吧" in Chinese.

Second, generally speaking, "宾馆"、''饭店"、''酒店" all means hotel, for example, 希尔顿饭店、北京饭店、北京昆仑饭店、如家酒店 are hotels, and the 宾馆、饭店are always have high-level restaurants. And the hotels are always named "酒店" now.

Third, some times, 饭店 only means restaurant, which is small and cheap, and doesn't offer the accommodation service. I think you can judge the differences among the "饭店" according to the buildings.
